This African family safari offers excellent lion and elephant sightings. Herds of up 1,000 buffalo are often encountered on this African holiday. Cheetah are seen with increasing frequency, and it is home to many dry-country species, among them caracal, aardwolf, greater and lesser kudu, mountain reedbuck and Guenther’s dik-dik. Five primate species are present, including the localized patas monkey. Lucky visitors might spot the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe.

Kidepo Valley National Park

Overview

Kidepo Valley National Park is located in the North Eastern part of Uganda sharing borders with South Sudan to the north and Kenya to the east, the park is largely a savanna grassland o about 1,442 gazetted square metres.

The savannah landscape are stunningly located a valley by two systems Kidepo and Narus rivers, the savannah extended towards Horizons delineated by distant mountain ranges which give amazing views.

The usual inhabitants of this park are Cape Buffaloes, Giraffes, Antelopes, Elephants, Bush Duikers, Zebras, Jackal Lions, Cheetahs and Leopards are often spotted and various species of birdlife.

The Kidepo region boasts of rich cultures among different tribes endemic to this part of the country; The Ik people have a unique culture; a hike to the mountains and experience their life is a rewarding adventure, the Karamojong are another wonderful people with an amazing culture, their lifestyle, dance and cultural performances is an experience you ought not to miss on your visit to the pearl of Africa!

Day 1 – Arrival

On arrival at Entebbe international airport, meet and greet with our representative who will then transfer you to your hotel for an overnight in Entebbe.

Day 2 – Entebbe to Kidepo Valley National Park

Transfer to Entebbe international airport for a light weight local flight to Kidepo Airstrip, meet and greet with our representative awaiting your arrival and transfer to the lodge.

On your discretion you may go for an evening savanna game drive in the park or chose to relax at the lodge and enjoy the beautiful scenic views of the park from the lodge.

Day 3 – Kidepo Valley

Set out at 6m in the morning for game drive in the Narus Valley, the Narus valley has the high concentration of animals in the park as it is drained by the Narus River which is source of water the wildlife.

Drive on the tracks searching for wildlife game including Elephants, Kidepo has the highest concentrating of Elephants in Uganda, Bush Duikers, Buffaloes, Hartebeests and lucky you will spot the Kavirondo Bush baby, Jackal, Leopard and Lions sitting on some of the rocks in the valley.

In the afternoon visit the Karamojong local community for a cultural experience, visit the cattle-herding Karamojong community in Lorokul. You will experience the unique culture of the Karamojong with the Lorokul Cultural group which is located on the outskirts of Kidepo National Park.

Learn about their livelihood of cattle herding, social cultural and traditional lifestyle, you may even meet the Karamojongg King who will narrate to you the folklore and beliefs of their tribe.

Day 4 – Kidepo to Entebbe

Morning drive to Kanangorok Hot Springs, this is an hour long scenic drive to the semiarid Kidepo valley north of Apoka. You will drive passed rocks and hills and the savannah plains before descending into the Kidepo Valley, cross the sand river before reaching the Kanangrok hot springs, this area is also commonly known for ostriches.

Return to the lodge for lunch and later transfer to the airstrip for the flight back to Entebbe.

Extension Options;

Ik hike

The Ik people are one of the marginalized tribe of Uganda, they are a group of people living in mount Morungole. They are different from the Karamojong, a day hike to the Mt. Morungole is a rewarding experience as you visit this Unique tribe in the Kidepo conservation region. This is an adventure that requires basic physical fitness as the hike to the Ik takes about 4 hours.
