This Park, is a wildlife sanctuary that straddles the equator. Established in 1952, the park, once named Kazinga National Park, was later renamed in honor of Queen Elizabeth II’s visit. Home to over 95 mammal species and 600 bird species, the park’s diverse ecosystems include savannas, forests, lakes, and wetlands, creating an ideal habitat for big game, primates, and a plethora of birdlife.

About Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, nestled in the southwestern part of Uganda, is a natural haven that dates back over 25,000 years. Its mist-covered hillsides are adorned with one of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests, often referred to as the “impenetrable forest.” This sanctuary safeguards an estimated 459 mountain gorillas, constituting roughly half of the world’s population, with several habituated groups available for tracking.

Beyond the iconic mountain gorillas, Bwindi’s rich biodiversity encompasses over 120 mammal species, including various primate species, elephants, and antelopes.
