A peninsular is an area of land almost entirely surrounded by water. It connected with the mainland by an isthmus. (a narrow strip of land with water on either side forming a link between two larger areas of land). The Mweya peninsular is located in the northern bank of the outstanding Kazinga channel. At the convergence of Lake Edward with the channel. It is a focal point for the attractions in the Northern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
It was an area of land settlement in the early 20th century. But the outbreak of Rinder pest made the people to desert it and it was then gazette for wildlife. The peninsular is also where the 2hour launch cruise starts from. The launch cruises offered by the park are two daily and each takes up to twenty people. You get to enjoy the views over the water with sights stretching all through to the mountains of the moon. One may also spot a leopard which live within the scrubby thickets.
