The best time to visit Queen Elizabeth National Park is January to February and June to July because it is a dry season. Dry seasons are good for game viewing because the grass is shorter which makes it easy to spot wildlife. Also, the hiking paths are dry and game drives are best done in this season as the routes are accessible.
The high season is always June to September and December to February. This is an awesome time for tracking gorillas and chimpanzees from Bwindi National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park respectively.
The months of March, April, May, September, October and November experience heavy rainfalls. This season is good for viewing hippos, elephants and buffaloes in the park, among other animals. The environment around the park is eye-catching. In this period with the glowing pastures, all making the scenery a relaxing one to enjoy. Birding is best done in this wet season as a lot of migratory birds visit the park.
In spite of all this beauty, caution should be taken in this period. Heavy rainfall interferes with the roads, making hiking a messy activity, and game drives not so accessible. Also some accommodation facilities may close due to the bad weather.
The low season therefore are the months of March, April, May, September, October and November and the park has really few people during this time. The accommodation facilities are cheaper at this time and bookings can be made at the last minute as there is no competition.
